Carpenter ants are known for being one of the most diligent insects in the world, which causes a huge problem when they enter your home. Ants are active during the day and night. If there is a colony near your home, they will find a way to gain access to the interior while foraging for food. The easiest way to see if you have ants is to look at any food that you have left out. While you should always store your food in air tight containers, you may accidentally leave food out and if ants are present they will quickly engulf the food. Pet food dishes will also bring ants into the home. If you notice an ant colony anywhere in your yard, you are going to have a problem. Ants will travel long distances to forage for food or seek a protected area depending on the outside environment. While you may only see a few ants on the surface of the colony, beneath the mound of dirt, thousands of ants are thriving.
Carpenter ants are notorious for causing massive and expensive amounts of damage to any wooden structure they nest in.
Expert Pest Carpenter Ant Programs
Expert offers TWO (2) programs for Carpenter Ants.
6 Month Program:
Expert Pest will perform a thorough treatment of your home or business. We will begin your application on the interior, treating all baseboards.
*Weather permitting; our service professional will treat the exterior, following the contour of your landscaping not to exceed 4 feet. We will target all entry points and any other potential nesting areas. This is to control pest on the inside, not on the exterior.
We also service the following Ants On This Program:
This ant program offers protection for 6 months, however, we do ask for a 10 day waiting period for complete results this allows them time to get into the product and become eliminated. If your structure is attached to another unit or building, the protection is a limited 6 month.
2 Year Program:
This program includes the above program PLUS, the program includes the initial visit followed by 1 yearly renewals in April. Upon the initial visit, our professional will treat the entire EXTERIOR of your structure along with spot treating the interior where ants have been seen.
On the yearly renewal, Expert will re-treat the entire exterior of your structure.
*IF the carpenter ants reappear after treatment, Expert will return and re-treat at no charge.
This program will not cover cockroaches, wood- boring, flying, pharaoh ants or biting insects.
Tips For Carpenter Ant Prevention
- Clean up food debris and spills immediately.
- Vinegar-based cleaning products are helpful for ridding the pheromone trails ants use to communicate on where to find a food source.
- Store garbage in sealed containers and remove from the home.
- Keep food packages closed or sealed.
- Do not leave food out on the counter or pet food out on the floor for any extended period of time.
- Repair holes or gaps in window and door screens.
- Seal cracks and holes on the exterior of the home including entry points for utilities and pluming.
- Keep tree branches and shrubbery well-trimmed and away from the house or business.
- Repair weather-stripping and repair loose mortar around basement foundation and windows.
Preventative Programs
Expert Pest Management offers various types of Preventative Programs to fit all of your pest control needs.
Quarterly Program
This service will maintain carpenter ant control, as well as adding
long term protection against common household pests such as
other ant species, cluster flies, hornets, lady bugs, mice, spiders, and
wasps.
Expert will treat your structure 4 times a year.
There are three exterior treatments in spring, summer and fall, with any interior spot
treatments if needed.
In the winter, we will provide an interior treatment with an attic inspection
Seasonal Program
Expert will apply liquid treatments in and around your structure 3 times a year.
There is one interior treatment in summer.
There are two exterior treatments, spring and fall with the fall receiving rodent inspection along the foundation and appropriate sealing of entry points.
