Bee, Wasp, & Hornet Management in Northeast Ohio & Western PA
During the summer and fall when bee, wasp, and hornet colonies reach their largest, you’ll notice increased activity outside. There are several species of wasps that are aggressive by nature and will attack if they feel threatened or if you come too close to their hive or nests. Usually if you and your family are being swarmed by bees, hornets, or wasps, there is a hive or nest close to the exterior of your structure or in a nearby tree. There can be thousands of bees, hornets, or wasps within a single swarm.
If bees, hornets, or wasps are invading the interior of your home, this could mean there is a hive or nest within your structure already, this increases your chances of being stung. When a hive is located in a place near where you or other family members walk, play, or conduct other activities, this will also increase the risk that someone will get stung.

Seasonal Note
Western Pennsylvania and Northeastern Ohio wasp and hornet colonies peak in size from July through October. Early-season treatment (May–June) is strongly recommended. Colonies left untreated can reach 5,000+ workers by late summer.

Signs of Bee, Wasp & Hornet Activity on Your Property
You will notice increased activity of bees, wasps, or hornets flying close to a fixed point — and you may hear a buzzing sound. Watch for swarming, which occurs when large numbers of these insects gather in one area. In many cases, you can see the physical nest within a tree, or attached to your home or business structure.

Spring Program
Thru June 30th
A complete exterior treatment of your structure targeting all nesting areas and entry points identified during the service visit.
Due to the biology of wasps and hornets in Western PA and Ohio, reapplication work will not be performed until after May 10th.
Summer-Fall Program
Thru Dec 15th
Full-structure protection. Expert Pest Management treats the entire exterior of your structure, targeting all entry points and active nesting areas.
Provides comprehensive coverage through the peak stinging insect season.
Note
In the fall, at the end of the bee, wasp, and hornet season, these insects can become disoriented and may enter your structure for a period of several weeks. If you are not experiencing a problem at the time of treatment, you may not experience one. Expert Pest Management would not be responsible for any activity within this seasonal window.
INTERIOR NESTS
If a nest is located inside your structure, Expert Pest may — as a courtesy — apply an aerosol to knock down adult insects present in a room. Expert Pest does not offer wall-cutting or interior nest removal services.
